Windows 10/11: How to fix/disable File Explorer from auto-open everytime after user login

Do you face an annoying situation that Windows File Explorer will auto-open everytime after you login from startup?

Recently, this issue happened in both my desktop and my laptop.

I managed to fix it with the following registry change:

1. Open RegEdit

2. Go to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

3. Look for a key called Shell

4. If its content is more than "Explorer.exe", in my case, it was "Explorer.exe,wzone.exe,explorer.exe" before fix, change it to only "Explorer.exe".

5. Save the registry, and restart your Windows.

Hopefully this fix works for you as well.

You can search "startup app" then disable the app in the list.
