Traditionally, "moving" is a series of actions with specific ritual, including:
Before the moving date:
- Complete all the renovation.
- Complete cleaning of the house.
Three days before the moving date:
- Switch on all the lights for 72 hours.
During the moving date:
- Move in the rice, a bucket of water (carried from old house) and cooking utensil first. This has to be personally done by the housemaster.
- Boil the water in your new kitchen.
- Move in the furniture and other things. This can be done with others help. Not necessary to move in all, but essential one such as beds, tables and seats.
- Move in the ancestors and religious statue/symbol.
- Prayers and ritual.
- Cook sweet dessert soup in the kitchen.
- Invite relatives and friends to celebrate. Normally will be a simple buffet meal.
- Sleep in the house.
After the moving date:
- Continue to move in the rest of the things, if not done so.
The above is just a simple guideline.
