PTPTN announced 2017 dividend for SSPN-i and SSPN-i Plus (now SSPN1M)

The Malaysia National Higher Education Fund (Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional, PTPTN) has just announced dividend for year 2017 for the education savings schemes SSPN-i (Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional) and SSPN-i Plus (now both of them combined and known as SSPN1M) on 30 January 2018.

The 2017 SSPN1M dividend payout rate is 4%, amounting to RM92.56 million. This rate is the same as previous payout for 2015 and 2016.

 In 2017, the amount of deposits in  SSPN1M was RM727.40 million, surpassing the original target of RM550 million, with 447,039 new accounts opened by depositors.

According to PTPTN, the number of SSPN1M accounts opened to date is 3.2 million, with deposits amounting to about RM3.3 billion.

Historical SSPN-i dividend payout rate is as below:

  • 2017: 4.00%
  • 2016: 4.00%
  • 2015: 4.00%
  • 2014: 4.25%
  • 2013: 4.25%
  • 2012: 4.25%
  • 2011: 3.75%
  • 2010: 3.25%
  • 2009: 2.50%
  • 2008: 4.00%
  • 2007: 4.00%
  • 2006: 4.00%
  • 2005: 4.00%
  • 2004: 3.00%

i do have, but today just check seem only payout 2%.

Once announced, it will backdate to 1 January and credited into your account.

You can login your account now and check the statement.

If the deposit was made later than 1 January of the year, the dividend amount is prorated. You will get 2% if you deposit in the middle of the year. You will even get none dividend if the deposit was made at the last few days of the year.

In subsequent years, if the deposited money is still in the account and no withdrawal made, you will get full dividend for that amount of deposit.

"...You will get 2% if you deposit in the middle of the year.." i guess this the reason. Thanks for info. 2017 is my 1st year contributing the sspn for tax relief purposes. tqtq
